Back in October, photographer John Majorossy and his assistant Chelsea Oram were faced with the challenge of photographing a massive steel structure, formally known as a Tuned Mass Damper. Created and fabricated by A&H Custom Machine, this device plays a very important role in the stability of tall buildings and long bridges, when faced with environmental strain.
A TMD is typically affixed to a structure; reducing the amplitude of vibrations as it counteracts the oscillation of the structure. Weighing several tons and standing close to 20 feet tall, John and Chelsea successfully photographed the TMD perched on top of a ladder, using a combination of strobe and available light.
