Sure, we do a lot of commercial photography and imaging for some high profile clients, but we also have a lot of business coming from small business owners. Recently BP imaging had the pleasure of photographing some delicious desserts & treats including cakes and cupcakes. The dessert photography was shot for Jeanette’s Cakes, a local bakery located in Oakville, Ontario.
Jeanette’s Cakes distributes to the Burlington, Milton, Mississauga, St. Catherines and Hamilton regions. The cake decorating studio specializes in creating cakes for events including weddings, parties and other celebrations. Although they produce custom desserts, the bakery also makes standard desserts such as cup cakes, edible icing images and both round & slab cakes. The kitchen studio also includes cake decorating lessons (including cup cake decorating and the principles of baking cakes), camps (including the art of making pastries and piping), workshops (including mothers day and a festive gingerbread house) and cake decorating parties (including cookie baking and a variety of custom cakes).
The cake photography took only half a day for 11 cakes and was shot with a common background and minimal propping. You would be surprised at how many high quality images we can photograph plus retouch in one short and cost effective photography session. Jeanette had prepped all of the cakes and desserts for the photo shoot so all of the desserts were ready to be photographed when the time came. The prepping of the desserts beforehand allowed the half day of photography to go very smoothly and efficiently.
