As 2015 came to a close, BP imaging was tasked with photographing one of their biggest projects of the year, the Foamco factory. 10 Hours, 1 photographer, 2 assistants, 20 scenarios and more than 300 photographs later, BP imaging successfully documented the operational system of the largest independent foam fabrication company in Canada.
Foamco’s 100,000+ square foot factory is responsible for creating everything from mattresses and packaging foam to furniture and consumer products. Their expansive inventory of foam and impressive collection of equipment gave photographer John Majorossy many elements to work with when composing his photographs. Using a combination of available and artificial light, assistants John Lynch and Chelsea Oram were responsible for positioning and wheeling the light stands throughout the factory while John Majorossy scouted out the best angle and positioning for each shot.
Prior to the shoot, John created a pedestal for the power supply to sit on which allowed the assistants to easily transition from one shot to another. In addition, marketing director of Foamco; Adarsh Shah, was very accommodating to the BP imaging Team, as he ensured the factory was presentable and his staff was available to help and pose for the photographs. As a result of these factors, the BP imaging Team was able to photograph and capture all of the scenarios requested. Though the day was long John, John and Chelsea enjoyed the challenge and welcome bigger projects in 2016.
