THE CONCEPT
We’ve been shooting advertisement photography for a series of ad layouts for our wall covering client, Colour & Design. It’s been an interesting assignment working with Bcreative to draft the creative elements. Once the concept has been approved, we have to determine the best method to execute the shot.
Our first challenge was a zipper, then tiger claw scratches and now we’re onto the GQ Man.
The creative was approved with a stock shot of a model. We then had to source a model and shoot the final. After reviewing several model comps with no good match, lo and behold, our own John Majorossy had a very similar look to the Calvin Klein model shot! The suit was provided by Scott Alexander, Owner of Bush’s Menswear in Burlington and we were ready to go. We just had to wait a few days for John’s beard to grow in a little.
The lighting was set similar to the comp shot and John struck the pose with attitude. The new shot was added to the creative and sent to the client for feedback. Client was happy but wanted John to look more hip! Well, we added some longer hair and hipped him up, not too bad looking for a boy from Guelph. Let us know what you think, should John have been in front of the camera instead of behind it? Be sure to check out the final ad shown in Interior Design Magazine.
Excellent concept and execution when you are ‘up against the wall’.
